KNOT QUITE THERE
================

Get over everything, together: a pole to vault with, a rope and grappling hook to
climb and swing, and a playground of boxes, walls, decks and trees.

Starting the game
-----------------
Double-click KnotQuiteThere.exe. Nothing to install.
New versions: the main menu tells you when one is out (bottom right), with a link to
download it. Get it at https://iolegends.com/knotquitethere

Windows may say "Windows protected your PC" because the game isn't signed by a
publisher. Click "More info", then "Run anyway". If Windows Firewall asks about
network access, click "Allow" (multiplayer needs it).

Playing with friends (2 to 10 players)
--------------------------------------
1. Everyone: open the game and type your name.
2. One of you clicks "Play with friends", types a name, then "Host a game". A friend code appears; click Copy
and send it to everyone else (Discord, text, anything).
3. Everyone else clicks "Play with friends", types a name, "Join a game", clicks Paste (or presses Ctrl+V),
   then Join.
4. When everyone's in the lobby, the host clicks "Start the game".
Late? Join with the same code any time during the game: your game catches up (a
few seconds) and you drop in. The host finds the code again under Esc.
Everyone needs the same version of the game (it's shown bottom right on the menu).

If someone's connection drops (or their game closes), the game carries on: their body
stays where it was, frozen (still hanging on a rope, if it was), with "Disconnected"
over its head. They can reconnect with the same friend code and the same name to get
their body back. Press Tab to see who's in the game; the host can Remove a player
there, and only then does their body go (they can still join again, as a new player).

Every player's game runs the same simulation from everyone's controls, so what you
see is exactly what your friends see: nobody jumps around or snaps back. Your
controls take effect after a short, steady delay (shown top right) so they can
reach everyone in time; the host picks it from the slowest connection.

Play starts a game on your own.

Controls
--------
Click the game to capture the mouse; Esc gives it back (and opens the menu).

WASD move (on a rope: swing)
  Shift run
Space jump (on a rope: let go)
Mouse look Wheel zoom (with a coil of rope: switch rope / hook)
E pick up the pole or the rope (holding a thrown rope: coil it up)
Q drop what you're holding / let go of the rope
  R back to the start
H call a buddy to hold your thrown rope (so you can climb it)
C get on the rope you're holding
Tab players list (host: remove a player)

The pole: run forward to lower it, then left click to plant it and hold left click
to ride it over. Let go to drop off; Space to leap off the top.

The rope: scroll to the grappling hook, hold left click (or F) to swing it (longer = harder), let
go to throw. Look up for a higher arc. Click again while it flies to stop it there.
Holding a thrown rope: left click pulls it in, right click lets it out (walk as you
do). Pull on a rope that won't come and you climb it: left click up, right click
down, WASD to swing, Space to let go. At the top you pull yourself over.
With the climbing rope (not the hook): left click next to a tree trunk to climb it
(W / S up and down, A / D around, Space to push off).
